fly away day......

Today our fly away group heads for home, but before that we will make a stop in San Francisco along the wharf for some sightseeing and lunch.
Yesterday was another great day! We made a morning stop at the Monterey Bay Aquarium and enjoyed all of the fish, sharks, otters and all the rest that is a part of a great aquarium. The aquarium is located in buildings along Cannery Row that used to be a cannery. There was lot's of information about the canning days when sardines were abundant in the area and over 2,000,000 tons were canned a year! After our time at the aquarium folks had time to walk down cannery row and visit the local shops and enjoy lunch.

The afternoon was filled with sights of the Monterey Penninsula coast as we drove the beautiful 17 mile drive through Pebble Beach. The houses, the golf courses and the coast, what a lovely drive. The surf was up and the waves crashing along the coast were exciting to watch. We made a number of stops along the way for pictures and just to take in the sights. One of those sights was the lone cypress tree, it is a beautiful sight. We ended the day with a stop in Carmel by the Sea for a time of shopping and finding a little ice cream!
