For me there is something special about driving into town across the battlefield. Driving down that same road that in 1864 soldiers came to fight a battle and over those 4 days over 50,000 were killed or injured.
We arrived at our lodging for the next two days, "The Gettysburg Hotel". We are situated right in the heart of town, so it's easy to walk around and look at historic buildings and do some shopping.
Tonight we had dinner at the historic Dobbin House.
This house, built by Pastor Dobbins in 1776 was used as a home, a school and was also used as a stop on the underground railroad. It was a great meal with many lots of laughs and plenty of conversation going on around the tables.
Tomorrow we tour the battlefield and many are headed out to the Eisenhower farm in the morning.
