turning towards home........

We left Monterey and drove into San Francisco for a few hours of sightseeing on Fisherman's Wharf. It was a nice day...of course it was cool, it's San Francisco. But the sun was shining and we all had time to eat and enjoy some of the sights, sounds and smells of the city. Then it was off towards the airport and time to say goodbye to our fly-away group. It was kind of funny to have a number leave us, for Donna and I this was only the second time we had this happen on one of our trips. It was like losing part of the family! (we found out later they made it home safely so if your reading this...know you are missed!)

Then the rest of us headed for South Lake Tahoe. It was a beautiful drive past Sacramento and on up highway 50 towards Tahoe. What a beautiful drive with lot's of snow along the way. We arrived at our hotel for the night and enjoyed a good night sleep.

We woke up this morning and there was a dusting of snow on the ground. But as we got ready to leave the sun came out and it was a beautiful drive. We stopped along the lake for a picture stop. We've attached one of them. What a beautiful sight. This lake at 6000' is pretty spectacular! Our camera crew got a bit adventurous and walked through some snow for a few good shots, but it was worth it! The drive the rest of the day was awesome. Driving down the mountain into Carson City we had some spectacular scenes and then driving across I80 we had clouds in front of us that looked pretty ominous. We weren't sure if it was going to snow or rain, but as we got close to them the clouds kind of parted and only gave us a little rain shower one time and a bit of sleet another. We arrived in Elko for the night and head towards Salt Lake City tomorrow.
