We arrived home last night after a wonderful 12 day trip. Since our last blog we...
Took a tour of Mt Vernon, George Washington's home. It is set on a hill overlooking the Potomac River and it is a very interesting and beautiful setting. Then it was on to Richmond for a lunch stop at the Historic Jefferson Hotel. Wow! This hotel built in the late 1800's is a beautiful hotel, our lunch was excellent and we felt like royalty eating there. After lunch we drove on to Jamestown for a visit to the Jamestown Settlement. A very interesting stop at this town where America began! Our night was spent in Williamsburg.
We arrived at Colonial Williamsburg in the morning for our time there. Everyone had an opportunity to tour this historic town at their own pace and it was enjoyed by all. It tried to rain on our parade, but we wouldn't let it dampen our enjoyment of this historic stop!
The next morning we were in Charlottesville, VA for a stop at Monticello, the home of Thomas Jefferson. It was a great tour of this very unique house. Then it was on to the historic Mitchie's Tavern for a fried chicken lunch...where we all ate too much!!
The next couple of days were spent traveling home and enjoying memories of all the historic and beautiful sites we had seen.
We dropped our guests off last night and said our goodbyes...but we hope not for long! We met new friends and hope to see them all on another trip soon.
