We left Monday morning on the National Parks trip. Was a beautiful morning as we headed west across Minnesota and South Dakota with a first nights stay in Rapid City. Alot of laughs along the way as we traveled and then a first night stay at the Historic Alex Johnson Hotel in Rapid City. A great evening meal and we were all ready for some shut eye with anticipation of the next days!
Tuesday we left early to get to Mt Rushmore for a visit. For some it was a first time experience and for others it was a return trip to this National Memorial. It is an awesome sight and the beauty of the morning contributed to that...it's one of those places that when you visit it makes you proud to be an American!
Then we headed north and west for our evening destination of Cody, Wy. We drove across the Big Horn Scenic Byway. It offers some spectacular views! We were a bit disappointed when we arrived at Shell Falls only to find the area was closed for reconstruction, but we'll see more falls today and tomorrow! This morning we stop at the Buffalo Bill Cody Museum before we drive through Yellowstone on our way to Jackson Lake Lodge for a two night stay. Weather looks great so we are ready to go!
