Sunny Florida....

What a beautiful day we had today! Almost 80 degrees, sunshine, very little wind and plenty of beach here at the Sirata Beach Resort in St. Pete's Beach. We are finishing up day 13 of our 17 day Grand Florida Trip.
We began out trip driving out of the snow and into the ice storm that engulfed much of Kentucky and the Ohio River valley. It was pretty, but it sure did damage to the trees and electric supplies of the area. Then on to Savannah for a 1 night stay before we traveled to St. Augustine and a tour of this historic town before a two night stay in Orlando. Many travled to Disney World for a day that was a bit wet---actually the only rainy day of the trip! Then off to the Kennedy Space Center--where we got to see the shuttle out on the launch pad. Fort Lauderdale was our next stop for a couple of nights. We took a cruise on the innercoastal waterway and saw the homes and yachts of the rich and famous. Our next stop was Key West where many went to Mallory square for their sunset party...a time to experience the sunset from the most southerly town in the United States. On our way back north we stopped in the everglades for an airboat rides among the alligators. The water level is low in the everglades but still a neat experience. On to Fort Myers for a stop at the Lee County Sports complex for a look at where our Minnesota Twins will be getting ready for the 2009 season and then on to the Edison/Ford Winter estates. The last couple of nights we've spent in St Pete's Beach with a trip yesterday to Tarpon Springs and an enjoyable time in this Greek, "Sponge Capital" of the world.
So tomorrw we head north---but it's been a great trip! We'll give you a final word on this trip and some pictures when we get home.
